Learning Intention: We are learning to solve problems using simple addition strategies  

Success Criteria: I am successful when I can solve the problem by adding 10s

1. Emma has 99 pieces of lego to build her robot. She added another 40 How many pieces did she use in total?

I know its 139 because 90+40=130+9=139

2. 57+30=?

I know it’s 87 because because 40+40=80+7=87

3. 18+70=?

I know it’s 88 because 40+40=80+8=88

4. 35+5+20=?

I know it’s 60 because 30+30=60

1. Johnny had some DVDs. he put them into 5 stacks of 6. How many DVDs did he have?
I know its 30 because 5+5=10 another 5+5=10 another 5+5=10
2. Rachel is helping to raise funds for her school. She has made 40 pieces of fudge. She puts 10 pieces in each bag. How many bags of fudge does she have?
I know its 4 because 10 x 4 = 40

Adding on Ten -by Mo'onia

Learning Intention: W.A.L.T.- add tens to any number by counting in tens or adding ten together.
Success Criteria: I know I am successful when I can add tens together.

Problems:
1. 40 carvings + 20 carvings = 60 carvings
I know that 4 tens + 2 tens = 6 tens

2. 37 bananas + 40 bananas = 77
I know its 77 because 30 + 40 = 70 + 7 = 77

3. 15 + 5 10 = 30
I know its 30 because 15 + 5 = 20, 20 + 10 = 30

4. 6 + 4 + 2 + 7 + 8 = 27
I know its 27 because 6 + 4 =10 + 2 + 8 = 10 so, 10 + 10 = 20 + 7 = 27
